News From #NABshow #NAB2017: Atomos Sumo 19″ HDR Monitor / Recorder for Production, Studio and Live Switching
Ideal on a DIT cart and for on set recording of dallies, proxies or full 4K60p masters, with real-time Log to HDR + PQ/HLG playback as well as waveform/vectorscope, focus peaking and false colour scopes. The Atomos Sumo 19” 1200nit 1920×1080 10-bit LCD panel, driven by the AtomHDR Engine, is bright, sharp and accurate, even under the most trying lighting conditions in the field.
As with all their product range, Atomos Sumo has broad format support, accepting RAW over SDI from Sony FS5/FS7/FS700, Canon C300MKII/ C500 or Panasonic Varicam LT, capturing up to 12-bit 4K30p as CDNG. Alternatively, for faster post workflows, capture directly to 10-bit Apple ProRes / Avid DNxHR at up to 4K60p or 2K240p
Use the Atomos Sumo as a fully calibrated, 10bit HDR grading monitor in the studio or suite, delivering surprising affordability while maintaining incredible image quality and clarity, with 10bit processing and 10 stops of dynamic range. Easily maintain colour precision with support for simple and accurate calibration using the X-Rite i1 Display Pro
With quad SDI inputs, Atomos Sumo can accept up to 4K60p in either 1.5G / 3G-SDI Quad-link, 6G-SDI or 12G-SDI. Similarly, the HDMI 2.0 ports also support up to to 4K60p input / output. As well as providing conversion to and from HDMI / SDI devices. they will automatically import camera settings using the Atomos open protocol for HDR automation. There is also still room for genlock and LTC timecode.
Another powerful feature (also seen recently in the Convergent Design Apollo) is the ability to seamlessly switch, mix, record and stream live from up to four 1080/60p sources (Single recording/stream output). Alternatively, the Atomos Sumo can capture 4 x HD ISO recordings simultaneously from the SDI inputs and, with the support of advanced metadata tagging, provide flexible multi-camera editing in post.
Flexible mount and power options:
The rugged, aluminium chassis will survive the knocks and supports 10 mounting points for any situation, inclduing a rear VESA mount with included stand. Standard XLR power is backed up with fully hot swappable, conituous power V-Mount or Anton Bauer battery mounts via optional mounting plates.
Open, affordable support for SSD’s installed in supplied Master Caddy system:
SSD’s provide non-proprietary, fast, reliable and affordable storage options that can be purchased from anywhere at capacities to suit your needs and budget. Installed in the Atomos Master Caddies, they are protected, secure and easily swapped during production recording. Alternatively, you can use the Atomos caddy supplied with storage by G-Technology, integrating into their EV series of RAID and desktop storage for efficient delivery into your post production workflow.
