New Teradek HEVC / UHD Product Ranges

4K UHD Logo

Teradek is possibly the most recognised and widely used brand in camera mount and portable encoders and transmitters for acquisition, live production and streaming. Incredibly compact without skimping on features and performance, Teradek Cube and Bolt products broke boundaries for affordability and enabled greater flexibility in on set and remote production environments. At NAB2017, they have taken their Cube, Slice and T-RAX products to the next level with an all new Teradek HEVC (H.265) codec and 4K / UHD resolution support.

There are numerous benefits to HEVC, not least of which is the significant improvements to efficiency, allowing for the same quality video to be delivered with half the bandwidth. If you are using wireless and mobile broadband, this saving is a game changer, reducing cost and greatly improving resilience for remote contribution and streaming. HEVC also brings higher resolutions and frame rates into the realms of technical feasibility for compact, low cost streaming devices and older transport infrastructure, which is why it rapidly became the standard for the delivery of 4K/UHD into the home.

Supporting the new Cube encoder/decoder products will be an all new Bond module supporting up to 5 3G/4G/LTE connections. The new Bond will come in a standard USB model, as well as a model with secure, weather proof 4 pin modem connectors. A small Li-ion battery will enable seamless swapping of your V-Mount or Gold Mount battery. The new Teradek Node 4G/LTE modems will also come in USB/4pin models as well as variations for global network frequencies. Details on a new backpack as an alternative to camera mounting the Bond and modems will follow soon!

Solid technical specifications and product details will no doubt be available soon but for now, here is what we know of the options and availability:
