Looking at NewTek Spark? Consider BirdDog Studio NDI

While the NewTek Spark is currently not easily accessible from Australian distribution, we are lucky to have access to a locally designed alternative, BirdDog Studio NDI. While not wireless, it does offer several features that we believe make it a superior solution. BirdDog Studio NDI supports the full NDI protocol, not just the lower bandwidth, and lower quality, NDI | HX. It also displays tally and has on board SD to HDMI conversion, offering flexibility in camera mount applications. With plans for even more to come via firmware updates, BirdDog Studio NDI is a great investment for any live production looking to move to IP and NDI.

PTZOptics PTZ Cameras with NDI

Similarly with the Spark, NewTek’s NDI Camera is not easily acquired through Australian channels at the moment, but the good news is, there is a just as capable option available from PTZOptics. In fact, there are 4! Available with a 12x or 20x optical zoom and in your choice of BOTH the colours (White or Grey). PTZOptics announced their new cameras at NAB and they will be shipping very shortly.

In the mean time, you can order the current SDI Models and get 50% off the firmware upgrade to NDI when available. The result is you will end up with the NDI camera cheaper than it will be at release AND you will get your camera now!
