The world’s most influential media, entertainment & technology show, 13-18 Sept 2018, Amsterdam – Learn More Here

Announced at NAB, the Ninja V has been receiving rave reviews and is going to be hitting shelves any minute now. With its arrival imminent, those committed to pre-orders have been waiting patiently for a few reveals teased at in the original announcement. The first was compatible media to suit the new, compact AtomX SSDMini form factor, which Angelbird have released and is discussed below! The second was exactly what they had planned for that little expansion port tucked away in the battery slot…

Well, the first two AtomX Modules are definitely worth the wait! Pitched as the most flexible ecosystem in Pro Video, Atomos created AtomX to ensure users could adapt and connect to any legacy or future wireless or wired video standard. AtomX is a bi-directional high speed expansion port breaking out connectivity for I/O of video, audio and power and supporting up to 4K60p RAW.

The AtomX Ethernet/NDI module has a wired Ethernet (1 GigE) connector that makes it possible to deliver live broadcast-grade video over IP networks. NEWTEK’S NDI technology harnesses this – allowing for simple installation and control of multi-camera networks, replacing traditional SDI cabling. The AtomX Ethernet/NDI module has NDI input and output with encode, decode, control and sync, allowing Ninja V users to transmit, distribute or receive and monitor NDI from any NDI source.

The AtomX Sync module brings professional wireless timecode, genlock and Bluetooth control to Ninja V, perfect for enhancing DSLRs, mirror-less cameras or game recordings. You can sync and/or control literally thousands of Ninja V units equipped with AtomX Sync modules on the same network at ranges of up to 300m. Multi-cam shoots have never been so easy. SYNC modules bring broadcast level standards to any HDMI camera or source, making it easy to integrate large sensor consumer cameras easily into traditional live productions.

Check out Jeromy, Atomos CEO, discussing these and a whole lot more:

Spotted by ERIK NASO @ NewsShooter – Angelbird is the most reliable professional media on the planet – reliable in terms of both performance and physical build quality. It is for this reason that manufacturers of cameras and other video capture technologies turn to them when they need memory to capture to.

The latest announcement from Angelbird is their new AtomX SSDMini for Ninja V – a high performance SSD built specifically for the Atomos Ninja V. The SSDMini slot, while utilising the same SATA connection, is 20% smaller than a standard SSD, therefor requiring a shorter module in order to sit flush with the edge of the monitor. Angelbird are the first to market with a dedicated solution and we expect to see stock at the same time as we see our Ninja V’s!

Also on show was a new 1TB CFAST card (pricing coming soon) and their super fast, super compact SSD2GO PKT 2TB connected to a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K and mounted in a clever little Shape mount. This new Blackmagic camera is due to ship imminently and supports both USB-C and CFAST memory. While CFAST offers the most convenient and compact solution, the PKT drive delivers huge capacity and reduced cost per GB. It also speeds up the process of moving from acquisition to post, delivering plenty of speed to edit directly from the PKT, saving time on transferring content to your media drives in the field.

Check out the NewsShooter video below for proof that its all real!

BirdDog, NDI innovators that they are, have been hard at work completing the NDI Central production workflow, introducing a range of PTZ cameras that deliver the highest quality optics and image processing with NDI simplicity. While other manufacturers have PTZ cameras that support NDI, they have opted for the compressed NDI|HX encoder, which is heavily compressed – essentially H.264. Built on their custom NDI silicon chip, BirdDog’s new PTZ camera range are unique in their ability to deliver FULL NDI without compromises.

Featuring Sony CMOS Backlit Sensors and full Sony image modules on P200, A200, and A300, and a true broadcast sensor on P100, never before have NDI cameras looked so good. With options for indoor and outdoor use, an awesome NDI keyboard controller and support for traditional broadcast connectivity as well as NDI, BirdDog have made powerful IP workflow accessible to productions of all shapes and sizes.

Even better, these cameras are built to work with BirdDog Comms, the world’s first audio intercom system integrating live camera feeds.

Together with Studio, Mini and Central, BirdDog allows any production to leverage the awesome power and flexibility of NDI to its fullest, and do it affordably. NDI simplifies while at the same time enhancing the connectivity between people and tools within your production.
