A Camera that Automatically and Naturally Shoots Video for you
With the advanced PTZ Auto Framing feature, the camera automatically track the person in a comfortable viewing with smooth pan, tilt and zoom movement regardless of posture, movement and what one is wearing. Since the camera does most of the work automatically, the operator can spend its time efficiently.
PTZ Auto Framing with built-in AI analytics
This camera harnesses powerful AI-powered video analytics that can automatically detect and track the position of a presenter within the camera frame. As the presenter moves, the camera’s pan, tilt and zoom mechanism ensures that the presenter is always framed naturally, without the need for a human camera operator to manually follow their movements.
Automatically and reliably shoots video for you
With Sony’s newly developed AI analytics algorithm, it detects the person’s skeleton and head position and matches the person’s detail features even when there are several people in the frame. It achieves accurate framing and consistent tracking.
Enhanced production efficiency with Ball Sports (Basketball) Mode*
Ideal for capturing basketball games, the SRG-A40 and SRG-A12 tracks both the ball and players, automatically framing the scene from an overview angle to clearly capture the flow of the game. Unlike conventional subject tracking, it employs advanced tracking technology to account for the fast and irregular movements of the ball.
*Available from firmware version 4.0. This feature is designed exclusively for indoor 5v5 format basketball games. It is designed for an overview angle of players and the ball but does not track specific individuals holding the ball. Please note that the Person Framing Mode and Ball Sports Framing Mode cannot be used simultaneously. This unit must be installed at the center of the court along the sideline. An official ball is required.
Customize the area to track with Tracking Range
PTZ Auto Framing is performed only within the predefined area*. When a subject goes out of the predefined area, PTZ Auto Framing stops and returns to search for the subject within the predefined area. The predefined area can be displayed as an overlay on the Web UI live view.** Simultaneously, this function allows you to exclude subjects that you do not want to frame.
*Only one area can be set.
**Available from firmware version 4.0
Keep the intended angle of view with Fixed Angle Position
When a subject enters the predefined area*, PTZ Auto Framing will pause and the angle of view will automatically move and hold the predefined area. PTZ Auto Framing will resume when the subject exits the area. The predefined area can be displayed as an overlay on the Web UI live view.**
*Only one area can be set.
**Available from firmware version 4.0
Achieve natural composition with Lead Room Effect
When using PTZ Auto Framing to track a person, the composition is automatically adjusted to provide space in the direction of the subject’s gaze, depending on the orientation of the subject’s face. This enables tracking in a natural composition that is close to professional camera work. Additionally, the size of the margin that can be set with the Lead Room Effect can be adjusted in three levels.
Keep everyone in the picture with Multi-person Framing*
The SRG-A40 and SRG-A12 can automatically track a group of up to eight people, with a primary subject and secondary subjects. The primary subject can be specified via the camera’s Face Registration function*, or on the web app screen. The secondary subjects are automatically selected according to their proximity to the primary subject. The camera’s pan, tilt and zoom function ensures that the selected people are included in the image, with natural looking framing. Multi-person Framing is ideal for various applications such as corporate conferences, panel discussions, weddings and other ceremonies.
Prioritise presenters with Face Registration*
The SRG-A40 and SRG-A12 can register the primary subject, tracking them reliably based on pre-registered face data and tracking priority. External Face Data Import (JPEG)* is available for faster on-site setup and off-site preparation. Automatic start/return is also enhanced, using registered face information to quickly re-acquire the subject after lost tracking or mis-tracking.
* Available from firmware version 4.0
Shoot with the intended angle of view
Camera functions can also be controlled remotely using web app software on a networked PC. This allows easy and optimal adjustment of the composition (size and position) of the subject with intuitive drag operations. SRG-A40/A12 offers a wide range of picture composition options, with 30 subject sizes from full body to Closer Closeup*, and detailed left/right and up/down settings. Scene composition can also be changed at any time, even when PTZ Auto Framing is active.
*Available from firmware version 4.0
Integrated tally lamp
The SRG-A40 and SRG-A12 feature a built-in tally lamp, just like you’d find on professional studio cameras. The lamp illuminates to give presenters visual confirmation of shooting status, or to show that PTZ Auto Framing mode is active. The lamp colour will change from Red (On Air) to Green (PTZ Auto Framing ON).
Simple, flexible setup
IP streaming
Stream 4K 30p video from the camera with support for popular IP protocols – ideal for live events and webcasts.

HDMI/SDI outputs
As well as live streaming over IP, the camera can simultaneously output video via HDMI and SDI for conventional production.
Picture Setting File
Easily copy picture settings across multiple cameras for quick, convenient set-up in multi-camera shooting environments.
Remote control of PTZ operation
Pan, tilt and zoom camera movements and other functions can all be precisely controlled using the supplied IR remote commander, allowing convenient wireless operation of PTZ functions without needing additional equipment. The SRG-A40 and SRG-A12 can also be controlled using the optional additional RM-IP500 remote controller, just like professional broadcast cameras. In addition to ON/OFF control of PTZ Auto Framing, it’s easy to toggle between single-person and Multi-person Framing* using the supplied IR remote commander – simplifying system set-up, especially in solo operation.
